This post features student writing.

Day three was so much fun! We did a lot of walking (7.5 miles!), but that didn’t take away from our crazy-fun schedule.

First thing this morning, we visited a park next to Glasnevin Cemetery to practice our writing with a prompt about meaningful objects. Then, we headed over to Glasnevin Cemetery, which houses 1.5 million tombstones across 124 acres. We enjoyed an interesting and informative tour with our beloved guide, Patty, and learned about important Irish figures buried at the cemetery. After our tour, we spread out and all wrote our own ghost story. Right after lunch, we broke into small groups, listened to, and critiqued each others ghost stories.

Later, we walked to a dance studio across the city to learn traditional Irish dances. Our teacher taught us three group dances. Although we aren’t experts yet, we had a lot of fun! *post following shortly with photos!*

Next, we went to the Belvedere Hotel for dinner and anIrish music and dancing show. The band was comprised of the accordion, the guitar, and the bodhran drum. They played traditional Irish music as some American music, like Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison and With or Without You by U2. Then the dancers performed traditional dances like the jig and the reel. The dancers asked for volunteers. Three Putney students went on stage to learn a dance (Larsen, Liza, and Cooper). They had fun on stage and we had fun watching them.
