A Day in a Putney Writer’s Life: An Outline

1. Train ride to Howth:
   1. Lots of card playing amid extremely patriotic train cars (the DART)
   2. Colorful rooftop graffiti scattered on the outskirts of Dublin
2. Lighthouse:
   1. A sea and rock lined trudge to an ampitheater-style marina facing ledge for Julia to read us “How to Become a Writer” by Lorrie Moore
   2. Scattered beneath the lighthouse, we wrote either how-tos or whatever came to mind inspired by the craggy scenery
3. Lunch:
   1. Fish and chips, either haddock or cod at Beshoff Bros (unless someone was picky)
4. Hike:
   1. Magnificent not-so-steep climb with a group emblem of roadside Morning Glories
   2. We read sonnets overlooking the ocean and witnessed swimmers jumping off distant rocks
   3. Landscape inspired sonnets (some with mermaids, some with curdling clouds)
5. Pick-up:
   1. The writers who stayed at the Howth cafe, drinking china tea
   2. Back to the DART train
6. Dinner and Ulysses:
   1. Delicious
   2. A book adapted into a play: odd, startling, confusing (wonderful to some, too much for others)
7. Night meetings:
   1. Satirical and revering sonnets about Julia and Chris
   2. shout outs, highs and lows
   3. That’s it, we’re tired.
