This post features student writing.
Hi from Dublin on day two of our trip! Now that the fog of jet lag has cleared, we had the opportunity and energy to enjoy our day around the country as we got to travel around the east coast a little more and start some serious writing in our workshop groups.
In the morning, we split into our smaller workshop groups and made our way to Dun Laoghaire by train (in some cases after a detour by the playground outside of the hostel).

We spent the afternoon in Dun Laoghaire in People’s Park exploring the market and working on different activities in our workshop groups, including doing character studies, interviewing locals, and writing about complicated and broad subjects.

The beach in Dun Laoghaire was very pretty and fun to walk along as we made our way back to the train station to head back to Dublin.
We encountered a cat at the train station before we took a scenic walk past old and modern buildings and neighborhoods to our Irish dance lesson.

We did an Irish dance lesson at a nearby dance studio, which involved learning the “1-2-3” foot movement and spinning each other around a lot!

Eventually, after much tripping around, we managed to participate and successfully complete the dance, for which we each got a certificate to commemorate our valiant efforts.

Later, we split back into our workshop groups and went our different ways for dinner and our evening workshop sessions around Dublin, before heading back to the hostel for the night.
Overall, the day was very productive and enjoyable as we got the chance to both explore more of the country and to talk to each other more, as well as getting a start on a few writing projects! We’ll be updating you all soon with the days’ activities and events as we continue our journey through Ireland!
Bye for now!
