Howth

This post features student writing.

Today, our group traveled to the coastal village of Howth, where we began by splitting into our smaller writing groups. For over an hour, we sat along a sunny boardwalk revising previous writings and generating new material. We then ate lunch at a local, authentic fish and chips restaurant, where we were bombarded by a ruthless gang of seagulls. (Luckily, only one chip was stolen.) We continued to soak up the sun in a seaside park before hiking 2.5 miles up a cliff that overlooked the water. The views were spectacular, and we spent time writing in peace, drawing inspiration from our natural surroundings. After riding back on the train, we enjoyed our last dinner in Dublin. The rest of the night was spent packing for our departure to the island of Inishbofin tomorrow for our writer’s retreat.
