Our Kind of Town

This post features student writing.

Today, we woke up at varied times between 8 and 9 for breakfast. After breakfast, we split off into our workshop groups where we wrote and shared work, receiving feedback and new perspectives. One workshop group went to Trinity College, another went to the Little Museum of Dublin, and another went to the National Gallery of Ireland. We had lunch in our workshops and enjoyed various bookstores and cafes. After workshops, we went back to the hostel to convene as a whole group and get ready for our night at the Abbey Theatre. We started the evening going behind the scenes at the Abbey Theatre, going onstage, and even going inside the hair and makeup room where we learned how wigs are made. After this, we all went to dinner at Le Bon Crubeen (where our leader, Ban, made a great one-liner pun about his name and the restaurant’s name). We saw the show Unmanageable Sisters, an adaptation of the show Les Belles-Soeurs set in 1970s Dublin, which we all enjoyed very much. When the show wrapped up, we returned to the hostel for our nightly meeting and called it another amazing day in Dublin.
