Irish Culture and Beyond

This post features student writing.

On Wednesday, our day started later than usual. Everyone met at 9:30 AM but only two groups went to go to the Epic Museum during the morning. Those two were Maggie’s group and Chris’s group. The other group, which was Ban’s group, went to a memorial garden and did some writing during the morning.

After everyone had finished at the museum, we dispersed into our writing groups and went to lunch.

The afternoon consisted mainly of different writing workshops for Chris and Maggie’s groups, while Ban’s group visited the museum. In our workshops, we had the chance to share our work with our peers and narrow down ideas for our final writing pieces! Although the rainy weather was a minor inconvenience, it didn’t stop anyone from their passionate writing.

After downtime at the hostel, we grabbed our laundry bags and dropped them off to be washed before heading to dinner. Dinner was quite exciting. The night before, everyone wrote their names on a slip of paper along with their preferred choice of dinner with the options of Korean BBQ, Indian, or Indonesian food. So before we headed to dinner, we were divided into three new groups based on our food preference! Everyone seemed to love their outcomes.

After dinner, we went to see an exclusive movie at the Irish Film Institute. The film, called Vita and Virginia, is about the love story between writers Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West. Everyone enjoyed the movie very much. By the time it was over, we were all very tired. We went back to the hostel and straight to bed, thus concluding another wonderful day!
